Map

The map tab displays the full GO Transit rail network with live train positions, route lines, and stations.

Navigate the map

• Pinch to zoom in and out.
• Drag to pan across the network.
• Tap the location button in the top-right corner to re-center the map on your current position and resume heading tracking.

Change the active line

The map fetches live train positions for whichever line is selected in the schedule tab. See Change route.

Read the map layers

Three layers are always visible:

1. Route lines: Each line is drawn in its official colour along the actual track geometry.
2. Stations: Marked with a small filled circle in the line’s colour, outlined in white. Station names appear as labels alongside each marker.
3. Live trains: Arrow icons show the current position of every active train on your selected line. The arrow points in the exact, current direction of travel. The icon is colour-coded to its line and the text label below shows the trip number.

Understand live train updates

• Positions refresh automatically every 30 seconds while the map tab is open.
• Refreshing pauses when you leave the tab and resumes when you return.
• Train icons animate smoothly between each position update.
• Only trains on your selected line are shown. Trains on other lines are not fetched.

Enable location tracking

If the map isn’t tracking your location:

1. Open the Settings app on your device.
2. Tap on Privacy & Security.
3. Tap on Location Services.
4. Find GoTrack in the list and set access to While Using the App.

If location access is unavailable, the map falls back to a view centered on Union Station.
