Live map, live stops, and calendar

March 14, 2026·Erik Taylor

Summary

We just shipped a new version of GoTrack that adds live train location tracking and a button to add a trip to your calendar. It’s available now on the App Store.

Over the last week, we’ve dropped in several new features that make tracking your train even easier.

Live map

Previously, the map tab showed every station on the GO Train network sitting on top of a rough approximation of the seven train lines. Along with your own location marker, the map could help you navigate to a station or see your current train’s progress down the line if you had already boarded.

The map is not approximate anymore. Using nearly 3,000 coordinates, we have redrawn the lines on the map to follow the exact route of the rail. And on those lines, we’ve dropped in the live location of every train that is currently in service for the line that you have selected on the schedule tab.

Trains show an arrow pointing precisely in their current 360-degree direction of travel, going beyond simple cardinal directions. They are also labelled with unique trip numbers that correspond to the trips in the schedules tab.

It’s also possible that we could show every train running on the entire network at once, lines be damned. Let us know if you think that would be helpful.

Live stops

Upon inspecting a trip in your schedule, you may find that one of the stations in its stops list is pulsing blue. That’s a live location marker indicating that that stop is the last station that the train has passed through.

Add to calendar

Also new to the trip details view is a button at the top-right that allows you to easily add the trip to your calendar. This could be helpful for planning a future commute. Trips added in this way include the scheduled departure and arrival times and a map link to the origin station.

Feedback

As always, we hope that these new features make your commute a little easier. If you have feedback on this update or anything else, please email us any time. We’re usually able to respond within a few hours.
